At Apricus Health we offer mental health services for all age groups including children, youth, young adults, adults and older people. We provide services to clients through NDIS or private funding, tailored to suit the individual’s needs and incorporate one-on-one support.

We Work with You

Our mental health services can be delivered in your home, school or in the community depending on the goals and we work on life skill outcomes, with the aim of increasing independence in accessing the local community.

We Come to You

Being lonely and/or socially isolated has been identified as a risk factor for early death and is the equivalent of smoking 15 cigarettes a day! It also has twice the health risk factors of obesity. Apricus Health can provide regular  ‘in home’ support to specifically address the issue of loneliness and social isolation.

We Work as a Team

Our social isolation and loneliness program is facilitated by an occupational therapist and aims to connect the person with existing community groups or programs that are of interest to them. This may be as simple as a community transport scheme for access to the local community or connecting with a group or activity.

The Apricus Health clinical team can also facilitate referrals to other services or visit on a regular basis for company and companionship. We understand that one size does NOT fit all. So we talk to people one-on-one to develop the right approach and modify as needs change.

If you would like more information on our program or how it supports our mental health initiatives, please send us an email.

Do I Need A Referral?

You can speak to your GP about how an occupational therapist may be able to assist with your mental health and they can provide us with a referral. We also offer telehealth under this scheme in approved rural and remote regions.

If you are a veteran with a Department of Veterans Affairs Gold or White card then you can speak to your GP about getting a D904 referral sent to us and we will contact you once we have received it to make an appointment.

If you are an NDIS participant, then we can work with you under your funding plan and if you are self-managed then you can contact us directly to make an appointment. If you are working with a support co-ordinator then you can ask them to contact us directly to work out the best way to work with you.

If you are not eligible for any funding assistance for mental health services, then we can work with you as a private client. If you have private health insurance, and depending on your type of cover, then there may be a rebate that you can claim through your insurer.  Please check with your individual health fund for specific details about what your fund offers.

If you are feeling suicidal contact Lifeline’s 24-hour crisis support service on 13 11 14 or seek immediate help from a GP and referral to a qualified Mental Health Professional. The acute care and crisis team can be contacted at the Townsville Hospital for after hours and weekend support operating 24/7. The Townsville Private Clinic offers psychiatry assessment and mental health and substance misuse support.
